The Construction Process
Putting green construction is a more precision-intensive process than standard turf installation. The subsurface profile has to be engineered for ball roll consistency — high points and low points in the base create dead spots in the roll that no amount of surface quality can fix.
We start by grading and shaping the green outline, incorporating cup locations, any borrow areas or elevation changes you want built in, and fringe transitions. The base layers are compacted in multiple lifts to ensure uniformity. Cup sleeves are set precisely. The putting surface — typically a nylon fiber product at a shorter pile height than standard residential turf, with a faster Stimp rating — is stretched and secured with attention to directional grain orientation, which affects ball break.
Fringe turf is installed at a slightly higher pile height to create the visual and functional separation you get on a natural green, and surrounds are finished in standard synthetic turf or matched to existing landscaping.
